2022年9月に日本初、「海の中の美術館」が三陸の海の中でオープン！
開館記念展は初代館長による「海の中の美術館プロジェクト」
「海の中の美術館プロジェクト」は、三陸の海で展開する「海の中の美術館」の第一弾となる、美術展示プロジェクトです。大船渡市綾里沖にあるほやの養殖場で、人工のほやのオブジェを設置し、公開します。
メッセージ
2021年に『潜水士』（”Diver”）という映像インスタレーション作品を作ったきっかけで、三陸の海と海で働く人々を撮影し始めました。海で働く人たちと接していくうちに、海の中の人間と生物の社会を考え始め、美術館も社会インフラの一つとして重要だと考えました。一見、アートは、私たちの生活と直接接点がないように思えますが、アートを通して日常を見ると、生きることの根本的な動機や価値を見直すような思いがけない発見をすることがあります。三陸の海を世界にPRし、また、このプロジェクトをきっかけに、日本や海外で「海の中の美術館」を作っていき、海の中の人間社会を育み、相互発展していけたらと思います。

美しいほやの養殖場の中で展示されているアート作品を鑑賞し、海中ボランティア活動を見学・ご参加いただけます。
ご希望の方には、震災遺物である沈没車の調査見学ルートを組むことができます。
ダイビングライセンスのない方で、ご入館希望の方は、乗船代を別途お支払いいただくことで、
船上にて、ほやの養殖場見学や海中の展示作品をご覧いただけます。
※天候等により直前に開催がキャンセルとなる可能性がございます。予めご了承ください。
※一度ご購入いただきましたチケット（調査・入館料）はキャンセルを承っておりません。あしからずご了承ください。

Japan’s first “art museum in the sea” opens the underwater of Sanriku!
Japan Undersea Art Museum Project is an art exhibition project, the first series of Japan Undersea Art Museum in the Sanriku Sea. Artificial hoya (sea squirt) objects are exhibited at a hoya (sea squirt) farm, located off the coast of Ryori Fishing Port, Ofunato, Iwate.

Survey and Entrance fee: 1000 yen & 2 boat dives fee *Diving license required
Visitors are welcome to view the artwork in the beautiful hoya (sea squirt) farm and observe and participate in underwater volunteer activities.
If you wish, we can arrange a route for you to visit the sunken car wreck, a relic of the earthquake and tsunami.
For those who do not have a diving license but wish to enter Japan Undersea Art Museum, it is possible to visit the hoya (sea squirt) farm on board the boat by paying a separate boarding fee, depending on the schedule.
(The art works are underwater.)
