IAFT16/17は、映像によるライブ・パフォーマンス・イベント”Visual Ray -2 N D- to New Dimension”を開催します。シリーズ２回目となる今回は、Audio&Visual Performanceの「新次元へ」をテーマに、カナダから来日するアーティストTasman Richardsonを迎え、西山修平、韓成南が対角に設置された２面のスクリーンを用いて、会場全体を映像化するパフォーマンスを行います。
３名のアーティストは、リアルタイムに映像と音響を生成するだけではなく、それを生み出すメディアシステム自体を表現の対象とすることにより、「映像を見ている」体験を意識させます。そこでは、映像が氾濫している現代社会を、映像を通じて、思考することが求められるでしょう。
既存のライブ表現を超えた新たな映像＆音響パフォーマンスをぜひお楽しみください。

タスマン・リチャードソン Tasman Richardson
カナダのトロントに拠点を置くビデオ・コラージュ・アーティスト。1996年に独自に創り上げたJAWAという技術を使用し、制作する。リチャードソンの作品は、映画やテレビから引用した映像と音だけを使ったビデオコラージュで成り立つ。収縮された映像が次々と重なり、まるで速く咲く花を見ているようである。また、360度没入型アートインスタレーションやアナログのジェネレティブ・パフォーマンス(即興演出)も手掛ける。
彼は今まで北米、ヨーロッパ、そして東京でストップ・モーション・コラージュの展示をしてきた。VIDEOART CENTER Tokyoが主催したビデオプロムナードにおいて、ストップ・モーション・コラージュ「The Life Of Death」を発表した。東京ワンダーサイトギャラリーでは、初期の作品の上映やレクチャーを行った。

Specializing in the JAWA method, a manifesto he authored in 1996, Richardson’s work focuses primarily on video collage in which the source sound and visual are always kept intact. The result is rapidly blooming, compressed memories with hundreds of cinematic references. He also works in fully immersive installations and analog generative performance. He has exhibited extensively throughout the Americas, Europe, and Tokyo with his stop motion collage The Life of Death as part of VCT’s Video Promenade and a screening and lecture of his early works at Tokyo Wondersite Gallery. He is based in Toronto, Canada.

西山修平 Shuhei NISHIYAMA
1976年神奈川県生まれ。映像メディアについての考察を通じ、映像が氾濫する現代社会を映像によって批評する作品を制作。その作品は、映像の論理に基づき、現実の世界をイメージとサウンドに分離し、再構成することにより、映像が現実化した世界を表象する。シングルチャンネル、インスタレーション、映像パフォーマンスを制作。
2007年から2008年までオーストラリアに滞在し、個展を開催。2009年から東京を拠点に活動。MORI YU GALLERY でのグループ展「Videos」（2014、2015）に参加。2014台湾の最大の音楽フェスティバル「T-fest」（2015）にてライブパフォーマンスを行う。過去にフランス、ドイツ、アメリカ、ハンガリー、ブラジル、インドネシア、マレーシア、韓国などの多くの映像フェスティバルにて作品が上映されている。

Shuhei Nishiyama makes works to criticize the modern society in which images are flooded by thinking of video as media. The works represent the world where the video realized by separating the real world to image and sound and reorganizing them in the logic of video. Making single channel video, installation, performance works. Stayed and had an individual exhibition in in Australia from 2007 to 2008. Living and making works in Tokyo from 2009. He showed installation works for “Videos” MORI YU GALLERY in 2016, 2017 and did a performance for “T-fest” which is the biggest music festival in Taiwan in 2015. His single channel works has been shown for many film and media art festivals in France, Germany, America, Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Korea.

「Confusion Is Org」（混乱は組織化される）
映像信号と音声信号を混線させることにより、映像で音を操作し、同時に音を映像で操作するオーディオ・ヴィジュアル・パフォーマンス。リアルタイムに発生する映像と音声は、記号化と脱記号化を繰り返すことによって、現在と過去が反復する。そこでは、変化と不変、記憶と忘却が同時に進行し、目の前で見ている映像＝瞬間が、現在と過去の間で宙吊りになる。
韓成南 Sung Nam HAN
記号論（言語・色・音・映像）を踏襲し、映像作品やアート作品を制作。人間／性愛／宗教といったコードに対して暴発的なエフェクトで彩った作品を発表している。
Audio Visual作品、インスタレーション、アートパフォーマンス、ウェブアート等、活動は多岐に渡る。日本、韓国、オーストラリア各地で個展多数。2009年12月にアジア圏唯一のaudio visual festivalを大阪で主催、オーガナイズする。最近はスーパーリニアという概念をもとに映像x演劇xダンスのアートパフォーマンスを上演している。
ソウル国際実験映画フェスティバル、ローザンヌ・アンダーグラウンド・フィルム＆ミュージック・フェスティバル、デトモルド国際フィルムフェスティバル等での上映や、ソウル国際ニューメディアフェスティバルにてメディア・アーティスト賞、マリックビル・コンテンポラリー・アートプライズでの受賞、Asia Anarchy Alliance（渋谷ワンダーサイト）でのオープニング・パフォーマンス等、MORI YU GALLERYでのグループ展等、個展・グループ展も多数。

Audio Visual Artist and Director of the Interdisciplinary Art Festival Tokyo, Sung Nam Han makes work with a semiological approach to language, color, sound and image and often employing abrupt visual effects. Han’s practice expands from video works, to installations and art performances, exploring the social code of human/sex/religion. A lot of works has been shown in domestic & international such as Experimental Film and Video Festival in Seoul, Seoul New Media Festival [Media Artist prize], Lausanne Underground Film and Music Festival, International Film Festival Detmold, Opening performance in Asia Anarchy Alliance at Tokyo wonder site, exhibition in MORI YU GALLERY, etc.

映像はconcreteな映像が連続するとディテールの持つ意味が希薄なabstractな状況になり、abstractな映像が連続すると、私たちは(飽きて、あるいは没頭しつつも)意味を探り、決定しようとしていく。そのロジックは未だ解明されていない。ステージ上で音を発しながらうごめく青い布と物理的に隔たれたスクリーン（=映像）は同期しながらも、別次元・別メディアの存在性がアピールされる。パフォーマンス空間・時間を内部とし、それ以外の場・時間を外部（ライブハウスの外）と区切るなら、ステージとステージを映し、外部を取り入れた映像は内部と外部を時に結びつけ、時に切り離しながら、従来のリアルな身体的パフォーマンス(物体も含む)とは違った重層的で新たなパフォーマンス空間が表現される。私が見せたいものは、映像でもステージ上の物体でもなく、映像とオーディエンス、青い布とオーディエンスの間に奇妙に約束されて横たわる、実際的な空間なのかもしれない。
2017年4月・韓国、5月・シンガポールにて、IAFT関連の展覧会・上映・パフォーマンスイベントがあります。
