「私たちの時代、時のタイポロジー」
私たちは日常生活の中で、年号を基点とし、過去を思い返し、未来の計画をたてます。国・地方・宗教によって、それぞれ固有の年号があり、今もその年号を使用しながら、生活している人々がいます。過去を振り返るとき、年代でまとめて思い返したり、検証することが最も容易で簡単な方法だといえるでしょう。個人の記憶は、共通の記号である年号によって、集約され、公的な記憶として共有されます。時のうつろいが連綿と続き、これからも続いていく人類の「時」は、年号という独特の記号によって、過去そして歴史を紡いでいきます。西暦以外で日々を過ごす人と西暦のみで生活している人達の間には、時のものさしが違うことによって、違った観点が生じているかもしれません。今回、IAFT16/17では、台湾、韓国、イギリス、シンガポール、日本の映像作品を上映し、シンガポールのアーティストグループと日本のアーティストがオーディオ・ヴィジュアル・パフォーマンスで競演いたします。異なる文化で生きるアーティストが作り出す作品の中に、同時代的感覚・思想が垣間見えることでしょう。IAFT16/17でぜひご高覧ください。

-Our era, Hour Typology-
People in Japan usually look back in the past and plan our future based on a name of Japanese era in daily life. There are people in the world who spend their daily lives according to specific era defined by their nations, regions, and religions. When you look back on the past or verify units of age, it is probably the easiest and simplest way. Individual memories are aggregated and shared as a public storage by the idea of era, which is a common symbol. Transition of “Time” is unbroken and continuous. Time” of the human race forms their past and history with the unique symbol “name of an era.” Those who live according to specific era of their own culture and those who live in the Christian Era might have different points of view on life. This time, IAFT16/17 will present video works from Taiwan, South Korea, United Kingdom, Singapore and Japan and invite an artist group INTER-MISSION from Singapore. Furthermore, a Japanese artist, Takahiko IIMURA will show his new fascinating audio-visual performance. Among the works which produced by the artist living in different cultures, we may glimpse the same age sensation and ideology. IAFT16/17 will show cutting edge and excellent works through two special nights.

＜Interdisciplinary Art Festival Tokyoについて＞
Interdisciplinary Artという観点で、発表の場や観客が固定されてしまう現状を打破し、ジャンルに依拠しない活動を行うアーティストを発掘、そして新たな観客や価値を創造するために、Far East Audio Visual Socialization(FEAVS)が母体となり、2009年に設立しました。演劇とも言えず、音楽のライブとも断言できず、映画の上映会に限らない等、様々なジャンルを横断し表現活動を行うアーティストをフューチャーし、よりダイナミックで現代社会に即したアートフェスティバルを行うことで、新たな価値をクリエイトし、人と人とをつなぐことを目的としています。
枠組みを超えたからこそ属しきれない、実験的で先鋭的なアートを歓迎し、紹介することで、アーティストの発表の場を拡張し、より多くの観客に新しい自由な観点と豊かな驚きを提供/普及させることを意図としています。表現者側と鑑賞者側、相互間で創造と価値をフィードバックしていき、新たなアートが生まれるための土壌を作り、アートシーンを活性化させることを目指します。明確なコンセプトの元で革新的な表現を行うアーティストをフューチャーした新しいフェスティバルです。

In 2009 IAFT was founded, as a reincarnation of “Far East Audio Visual Socialization(FEAVS),” to shatter the current norm of fixed spaces and audiences; and to discover artists who create new values going beyond the borders of artistic practice. We feature artists who engage in interdisciplinary practice, creating new values that connect people by introducing more dynamic art festivals that reflects contemporary society. Our purpose is to provide new and free perspectives that enrich people with inspiration – expanding the opportunity for the artists to present their works, by introducing experimental and avant-garde art. We aim for both creators and viewers to mutually share their feed back with each other: build the foundation for new art, and rejuvenate the art scene by featuring innovative artists with clear concepts and new visions.
